PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Freshman Randy Green scored a season-high 22 points Saturday as Washington State snapped a 14-game losing streak by downing Oregon State 75-71.

Green was the only double-figures scorer for the Cougars (6-18, 1-14 Pac-10), who had lost a school-record 21 consecutive league games since beating Washington 81-79 on Jan. 31, 2002.

Last season, the Cougars were 1-17 in Pac-10 under fourth-year coach Paul Graham.

Philip Ricci scored 25 points and Brian Jackson added 20 for the Beavers (12-11, 5-9), who are battling for one of the eight berths in the Pacific-10 Conference Tournament.

The Cougars, who had not won since beating Fresno State on Dec. 23, never trailed after going on a 10-0 run midway through the first half. Oregon State twice narrowed WSU's lead to three points in the final 1:39, but the Cougars sank 9 of 10 free throws in the last 1:08.

The Cougars, last in the Pac-10 in scoring and field-goal shooting percentage coming into the game, outshot Oregon State 49-37 percent from the field, including 57-39 percent in the first half. WSU led 41-35 at the half.

Ricci had nine rebounds and Jackson eight for the Beavers, who outrebounded the smaller Cougars 38-34.

Green, a redshirt freshman who has yet to go on scholarship, did not play in nine of WSU's first 12 games. His playing time has increased since star point guard Marcus Moore was lost due to ankle surgery.
