Before returning to WSU, Marrion spent the previous three seasons on the men's basketball staff at San Jose State University.
During the 2008-09 season at SJSU, Marrion served as the director of basketball operations where he organized travel, ran the booster club, managed the team budget and oversaw all administrative facets of the program. Marrion originally joined the Spartan basketball program for the 2006-07 season as an administrative assistant and was promoted to an assistant coaching position for the 2007-08 season. At age 22 at the time of his appointment, he was believed to be the youngest full-time assistant in Division I men's basketball during the 2007-08 season. As an assistant coach, Marrion was responsible for coaching the defense and point guards, evaluated and recruited potential student-athletes and scouted opponents. During the 2006-07 season, Marrion's duties included serving as the video coordinator, assisting the operations director and handling all administrative duties. Prior to joining the SJSU staff, Marrion spent three seasons at WSU as a student assistant where his duties included the preparation of scouting reports, video coordination, film exchange and coordinating team meals. He has worked as a guest coach at summer youth basketball camps in Northern California, Kentucky and Washington. Marrion received his degree in sport management with a minor in leadership studies from Washington State in just three years, graduating in 2006 and is currently working on his masters in sports leadership from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. A native of Nottingham, England, Marrion lived in Melbourne, Australia for six years before moving to the United States where he graduated from St. Francis HS in Mountain View, Calif. in 2003.
