PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University baseball team will play Portland in the Cougar Diamond Classic presented by Toyota of Tri-Cities. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 7 at Gesa Stadium in Pasco.

It will be the second-straight season the Tri-City Dust Devils have hosted the event. This will be the second meeting of the season between the Cougars (23-20) and Pilots (23-16). Washington State won the first encounter 10-0 in the Rose City, April 10.

The Cougars will send right-hander Kyle Swannack (3-3) to the mound. He will be opposed by Kyle Kraus (6-3). The Portland right-hander leads his team with a 1.49 ERA and the Pilots are third nationally at 2.58. Defensively, the Cougars have turned 54 double plays, tied for fourth in the country, and are ranked second in twin killings per game at 1.26.

The game is the first of five-consecutive away from Pullman for Washington State. The Cougars travel to Stanford for a three-game Pac-12 Conference series, Friday-Sunday and play California in a nonconference game at Berkeley, Monday, May 14.

Tuesday's game against Portland will be televised by SWX and broadcast locally on NewsTalk 1150 AM/105.3 FM. Live stats (free) and the radio broadcast (fee applies) can also be heard on wsucougars.com.

Washington State returns to Bailey-Brayton Field, Tuesday, May 15 against USC. The Pac-12 game was originally scheduled for April 1, but was postponed due to weather. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
