Cougars Host Seattle in Three-Game Series

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University baseball team opens a three-game nonconference series against Seattle, Thursday, April 5 at Bailey-Brayton Field. The Cougars (13-12) and Redhawks (14-10) will meet Thursday and Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Washington State is 7-2 at home this season, including 6-1 in nonconference play. The first 500 fans to Thursday's game will receive a free baseball bottle opener keychain. Saturday is Dog Day at the Park. Fans can bring their dogs to the game and donations to the humane society are being accepted. This marks the final nonconference series for the Cougars. Each of their other six nonconference meetings will be single-game affairs. Washington State is led by senior Derek Jones, the reigning Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week. He is currently batting .407 with 18 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, and 27 RBI. Right-handed sophomore J.D. Leckenby (3-3) takes the mound for the Cougars, Thursday. He will be followed by freshman southpaw Joe Pistorese (1-2) and freshman righty Tanner Chleborad (1-0). All games will have live stats (free) and a webcast (fee applies) available on wsucougars.com.
