COUGARS HIT THE ROAD TO OPEN 2013 SEASON
Washington State baseball begins its 2013 season with a three-game series at Western Carolina...meetings will take place on the Catamounts' campus in Cullowhee (CULL-uh-whee), N.C...games will be played, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 15-17...game times are 1 p.m., Friday, 11 a.m., Saturday and 9 a.m., Sunday (All Times Pacific)...first meeting between Washington State and Western Carolina...Cougars are 238-215 under Donnie Marbut, who is in his ninth season as the head coach of the WSU program and 10th overall in Pullman...Marbut is assisted by Gregg Swenson, Pat Waer, Michael Naughton and Scott Parrish.

COUGARS AGAINST THE SOUTHERN CONFERENCE
Washington State is 1-0 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference having defeated Davidson in 1991.
PITCHING EXPERIENCE
Washington State returns each of the six pitchers who made a start for the Cougars last season...top-six innings totals from 2012 also return.
SOLID DEFENSE
Washington State set a school record for fielding percentage at .978 last season...Cougars committed 48 errors, the fewest in the aluminum bat era (1974-present).
REPLACING THE DRAFT
The top-five Cougar hitters last season were all selected in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft and signed professional contracts...junior Jason Monda (51), sophomore Ian Sagdal (50) and redshirt-junior Adam Nelubowich (47) return the most starts from 2012.
TELEVISION APPEARANCES
The Cougars are scheduled to make six appearances on television this season...road games against Utah (April 6), California (April 21), USC (May 11) and Oregon State (May 24) will be televised by the Pac-12 Networks...game against Washington (April 18) in Pasco, Wash., will also be carried by the Pac-12 Networks...meeting with BYU (April 8) in Provo, Utah will be televised by BYUtv.
