PULLMAN, Wash. - Collin Slaybaugh's RBI-single in the bottom of the 10th inning provided Washington State a 1-0 victory over visiting Gonzaga in nonconference baseball at Bailey-Brayton Field, Tuesday.

Kellen Camus (3-1), the fourth Washington State (27-26) pitcher, recorded the final-four outs to earn the victory. Slaybaugh's game-winner came off Gonzaga (32-21) reliever Kenny Smith (2-2).

"Joe (Pistorese) has been really good for us all year" Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "All of arms were pretty good tonight. It was our best pitched game of the year."

In the 10th, Tommy Richards led off with a single. After Ian Sagdal sacrificed, Richards took third on a ground out by Kyle Johnson. Slaybaugh was ahead in the count 3-1 before fouling off two-straight pitches. On the seventh pitch of the at bat, he singled to left-center field plating Richards.

Cougar starter Joe Pistorese and Bulldogs' starter Zach Abbruzza matched zeros on the scoreboard for seven innings. Pistorese gave up three hits and Abbruzza's yielded four.

Pistorese retired the first-seven Gonzaga hitters and faced the minimum through three innings. He loaded the bases in the fourth with two walks and a hit batter and gave up a double in both the fifth and sixth innings. He finished strong by posting three of his five strikeouts over the last four batters he went up against.

In the fifth, Jason Monda singled with two outs, but was cut down trying to score on a double by Richards. The Cougars stranded a pair of runners in the sixth and Sagdal grounded into an inning-ending double play with the bases loaded in the seventh.
