PULLMAN, Wash. - Mitch Canham drove in five runs and Dallas Buck picked up his 10th win of the season as No. 6 Oregon State defeated Washington State, 16-1, Friday evening in the Pacific-10 Conference series opener Friday evening at Bailey-Brayton Field.

Freshman Jared Prince led of the bottom of the second inning with a deep home run over the wall in left, his seventh home run of the season as WSU jumped out the 1-0 lead. The Beavers tied the score in the top of the third as Darwin Barney lined a two-out double down the right field line, scoring Canham from second.

Oregon State broke the game open in the fifth with a 10 run innings. A leadoff walk followed by a Canham home run gave the Beavers a 3-1 lead. Two more singles and an intentional walk loaded the bases and ended the evening of Cougar starter Reese Baker. After striking out his first hitter, reliever Mike Wagner walked Tyler Graham for the third run of the inning. Bill Rowe followed with a two-run single up the middle for the 6-1 lead. Chris Kunda added a three-run double and Barney closed out the inning with an RBI single as OSU took an 11-1 lead.
