STANFORD, Calif. - Stephen Piscotty was 3-for-3 at the plate and pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win on the mound as No. 11 Stanford knocked off Washington State 8-3, Saturday.

The Cardinal (31-14, 13-10 Pac-12) scored four times in the third and once in the fifth to build a 5-0 lead against Washington State (24-22, 9-13 Pac-12) starter J.D. Leckenby (4-6).

"We didn't play well and J.D. (Leckenby) didn't have his best secondary stuff," Cougar Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "We have to find a way to fight for a win tomorrow."

Washington State scored its first run in the sixth. Kyle Johnson led off with a single and stole second with two outs in front of an RBI-double by Derek Jones.

Stanford responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to end Leckenby's afternoon. The Cougars scored a pair of unearned runs against Piscotty (3-2) in the seventh to cut their deficit to 7-3.

Jason Monda reached on an error with one out and took third on a double by Collin Slaybaugh. Reliever Garrett Hughes struck out Ty Jackson, but a wild pitch allowed Jackson to reach base and Monda to score. A throwing error on the play sent Jackson to second and allowed Slaybaugh to race home.

Stanford closed the scoring with a run in the bottom of the seventh charged to Washington State reliever Richie Ochoa.
