PULLMAN, Wash. - Senior Jared Prince had three hits and three RBI to lead Washington State past Oregon 10-2 in a Pacific-10 Conference baseball game at Bailey-Brayton Field, Monday.

With the victory, the Cougars (25-20, 14-7 Pac-10) completed a three-game sweep of the Ducks (14-34, 4-17 Pac-10). WSU is alone in second place in the Pac-10 standings, two games behind Arizona State with six games to play.

"Jared Prince is really dialed in offensively, "WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "Defensively and on the mound, we did a solid job all series long."

The Cougars staked redshirt-freshman starter David Stilley (3-1) to a lead with a four-run third inning. Sophomore Shea Vucinich and freshman Derek Jones delivered back-to-back, run-scoring singles and Prince added a two-run single to cap the rally and give WSU a 4-0 lead. Stilley went six innings, gave up two runs on six hits, walked two, and struck out three.

Oregon picked up two runs in the top of the fifth, but the Cougars answered with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Jones led off with a single and moved to third on a double by senior Greg Lagreid. Prince singled to score Jones and junior Michael Weber plated Lagreid with a sacrifice fly. Redshirt-sophomore Jay Ponciano doubled to drive home Prince, stole third, and came home on a single by sophomore Ryan Peterson to increase the lead to 8-2. In the seventh, the Cougars picked up a run on an error and Peterson doubled in a run to close out the game's scoring.

WSU opens a two-game series with Portland, Tuesday at Bailey-Brayton Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
