Cougars Shut Out by California
May 6, 2012
PULLMAN, Wash. - Justin Jones fired a two-hit shutout and California downed Washington State 8-0 in Pac-12 Conference baseball, Sunday. Jones (4-6) struck out six, walked one and hit two batters. He did not allow a runner past first base and retired the last-15 men he faced. California (25-19, 9-12 Pac-12) gave Jones all the run support he needed by scoring twice in the top of the first against Washington State (23-20, 9-11 Pac-12) starter J.D. Leckenby (4-5). The Golden Bears added run in the third off Leckenby and tacked on four in the seventh against the Cougar right-hander and a pair of relievers. California capped the scoring with a run in the eighth.
