EUGENE, Ore. - Zack Thornton pitched into the seventh inning to lead No. 17 Oregon past Washington State 6-1 in a Pacific-10 Conference baseball game at PK Park, Sunday.

Thornton (7-0) gave up one run on four hits and struck out six for Oregon (30-14, 10-8 Pac-10) which won the deciding game in the three-game set with the Cougars (22-17, 6-9 Pac-10).

In the fourth, a double, wild pitch and three-straight singles gave the Ducks a 2-0 lead against WSU starter James Wise (1-1). Paris Shewey came on in relief and gave up a three-run home run to Paul Eshleman.

In the seventh, Cody Bartlett was hit by a pitch followed by back-to-back singles from Michael Weber and Brett Jacobs to load the bases and end Thornton's day. Alex Keudell relieved Thornton and struck out Matt Fanelli and Matt Argyropoulos. Keudell then hit pinch hitter Ryan Peterson with a pitch to force in a run, but induced Jay Ponciano to bounce into a force out that ended the threat.

The Ducks capped the scoring with a run in their half of the seventh on a double, error and single against Adam Conley.

The Cougars return home to host California, Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

WSU NOTES
