PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth inning and posted a 12-4 victory over No. 22 Oregon State in a Pacific-10 Conference baseball game at Bailey-Brayton Field, Saturday.

It was the second-straight win for the Cougars (21-14, 5-6 Pac-10) over the Beavers (20-13, 3-8 Pac-10). David Stilley (2-1) worked five-plus innings for the victory. Oregon State's Tanner Robles (4-4) was torched for 11 runs, nine earned, in three and two-thirds innings and took the loss.

"David Stilley settled in and gave us his best game of the season," WSU Head Coach Donnie Marbut said. "Our bats came alive and gave us a big inning in the fourth."

The Beavers took a 1-0 lead in the first before the Cougars tallied three times in the third and added the eight-run fourth. In the third, Brett Jacobs doubled in two runs and scored on an error.

Matt Fanelli led off the fourth with his fourth home run of the season to put WSU on top 4-1. With one out, Jay Ponciano was hit by a pitch and Kyle Johnson singled. After Garry Kuykendall struck out, the Cougars put together five-straight RBI-singles by Shea Vucinich, Jacobs, Michael Weber, Matt Argyropoulos and Fanelli. Cody Bartlett capped the rally with a two-run triple to give WSU an 11-1 lead.

Oregon State ended Stilley's day with two runs in the sixth, but Connor Lambert pitched out of second and third, no out situation to prevent further damage. Both teams scored a run in the seventh with the Cougars' tally coming on Bartlett's fourth round-tripper of the season.

The series concludes, Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon.

WSU NOTES
The eight runs in the fourth inning were the most by the Cougars in a Pac-10 game since May 24, 2003 (eight-run fourth in Pullman) against UCLA...freshman Brett Jacobs was 3-for-3 to raise his batting average to .406.
