WSU Drops Second Game Of Washington Series 7-3

Washington State's Zach Kosturos, who hit a two-run double in the fourth, was be the only Cougar to drive home a run in WSU's 7-3 loss Friday, at Husky Ball Park, to No. 25 Washington, in the second game of the Pacific-10 baseball series that stands at 1-1.
Starting pitcher, Bryce Chamberlin (6-1) recorded his first loss of the season for WSU (20-10, 2-3 Pac-10), allowing five runs, all earned, while striking out six batters in 4.1 innings of work..
Trent Baysinger (3-2) earned the win for the Huskies (19-9-1, 5-3 Pac-10), pitching the final 5.1 innings, allowing two runs, both earned, walking seven batters while striking out one.
WSU scored two runs in the fourth inning, to cut the 4-0 deficit to two runs. Following three consecutive walks, Zach Kosturos had the key hit, a two-run double to score Justin Hart and Brandon Reddinger,.
Jason Freeman, who singled to lead off the inning, scored what would be the final run for the Cougars in the seventh inning on a bases loaded double play.
Washington's four runs in the third would prove to be enough for the win. John Otness, who led off the inning with a single, scored off a double down the right field line by Brent Lillibridge two outs later. Greg Isaacson then homered to center field. Matt Lane drove home what would be the winning run when he doubled to bring home Zach Clem who reached base on a walk.
The Huskies added single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth innings to seal the win. In the fifth Kyle Larson singled to score Isaacson who led off the inning with a single four batters earlier. Lillibridge singled home Ben Johnson in the sixth inning. Johnson also scored the final run of the game in the eighth off of a passes ball four batters into the inning.
The Cougars will take on Washington for the rubber game Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Husky Ball Park.
