BYU Edges WSU Baseball

PROVO, Utah - Brandon Relf homered in the bottom of the eighth inning to give BYU a 3-2 victory over Washington State in nonconference baseball, Monday. Relf's game-winner came off WSU (15-10) reliever Connor Lambert (1-1). BYU (13-14) reliever Chris Capper (2-0) recorded the final out of the eighth inning and earned the victory. David McKnight pitched the ninth inning for his fifth save. WSU took a 1-0 lead in the first on a Derek Jones home run. BYU scored twice in the sixth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Shea Vucinich reached on an error with one out in the top of the eighth and Brady Steiger plated him with a two-out, pinch-hit single to tie the game 2-2. The series concludes, Tuesday with a game scheduled to begin at noon. WSU NOTES
