Zach Borba joins the Cougar coaching staff after competing his playing career last season in a Cougar uniform. The Reno, Nev., native started 40 games, batted. 305, collected 23 RBI, and stole a team-leading 15 bases for Washington State in 2007. Borba spent his junior season at UNLV where he hit .324 with 25 RBI and 14 stolen bases. He was named the co-MVP of the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game in the summer of 2006. Borba's also spent two seasons at Columbia Basin Community College where he was named NWAACC first team and gold glove winner as a sophomore.
