Cougar Throwers Schedule 11th Annual Car Wash for October 6
Oct. 4, 2012
PULLMAN -- The Washington State University Track and Field throwers will hold their 11th Annual Car Wash Saturday, October 6, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Palouse Falls Brewing Company parking lot, 1335 SE Bishop Blvd., in Pullman. All donations from the car wash will be given to Team Gleason.
The Cougar discus, shot put, hammer and javelin throwers will be washing cars Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., inviting the public to donate to Team Gleason to support former Cougar and New Orleans Saints football player Steve Gleason's fight against ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease) through the Gleason Initiative Foundation and the Gleason Family Trust.
"After ten years of great support from Pullman residents and from the surrounding communities, we are proud to have this year's Cougar throwers' car wash support Team Gleason," WSU Associate Coach Debra Farwell said. "We are happy to be working once again with local businesspeople Jeff and Linda Greene of the Palouse Falls Brewing and grateful they are providing the parking lot and water for the car wash."
In the past ten years, the Cougar throwers have raised over $12,500 to donate to local community members in need. Previous car washes have raised money for paralyzed WSU football player Cory Mackay, the Breast Cancer Support Group of the Palouse, several local cancer patients, a transplant recipient, and the Pullman Community Action Center.
Those unable to stop by the car wash can donate by contacting Debra Farwell at 509-335-0260 or email@example.com. Checks should be made out to Team Gleason and can be mailed to Debra Farwell, PO Box 641602, Pullman WA 99164-1602.
