COUGARS VERSUS DAWGS SATURDAY, APRIL 28 IN PULLMAN
The track and field teams from Washington State University and University of Washington will meet in their nearly annual dual meet Saturday, April 28, at Mooberry Track in Pullman...scoring is 5-3-1 for individual events and 5-0 for relays...field events begin at 11 a.m. with running events set to begin at 1:15 p.m...there is no charge to spectators and a concession stand will be open...complete results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com at the completion of the meet...for more information about the history of the meet, see below.
ABOUT THE COUGAR COACHES
Head coach Rick Sloan is in his 39th season with the Cougar track program; 18th year as a head coach, 17th year as mentor to the combined men's and women's program...Sloan (decathlon/heptathlon) is joined by associate coach Debra Farwell (throws), head coach for cross country Pete Julian (distance), and assistant coaches Mark Macdonald (hurdles/relays), Ellannee Richardson (sprints/relays) and Matt McGee (jumps)...volunteer coaches include Jeshua Anderson, Tim Riley and Wes McCann.
NCAA DESCENDING ORDER LISTS
The NCAA has automatic qualifying standards for Indoor competition that can be found on the 2012 Outdoor Bests Lists posted on the WSU website (www.wsucougars.com)...national descending order lists can be viewed at the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Track & Field Results Reporting System website (www.tfrrs.org).
COUGARS & HUSKIES DUAL HISTORY: 37th MEETING FOR WOMEN, 97th or 101st FOR MEN
Last year scores were: Women - WSU 92, UW 71, and Men - UW 83, WSU 80...the WSU women's team has defeated Washington in 10 of the past 11 years, with UW winning in 2009 with a score of 81 2/3 to WSU's 81 1/3...overall UW women lead 20-16...men's dual meet history is not as clear-cut...according to WSU records, the Cougars and Huskies have met 100 times already with WSU leading the series 62-37-1...the WSU records include two quad meets also scored as duals and two UW wins in 1945...Washington records list WSU leading the series 60-35-1...so 2012 will either be the 101st meeting of the men's teams or the 97th meeting.
PAC-12 TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS TICKET INFORMATION
The Pac-12 Track & Field Championships are May 5-6 and 12-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon...there is no admission charged for the May 5-6 Combined Events...All-Session passes and individual day tickets to the May 12-13 events are now available through the Oregon Athletic Ticket Office at GoDucks.com or by calling 800-WEB FOOT...the main ticket office at the Moshofsky Center will be open Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11...those wishing to purchase tickets beginning Saturday, May 12 will need to do so at Hayward Field...ticket windows open 90 minutes prior to the start of competition...http://ev10.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetGroupList?groupCode=TF&linkID=uoregon&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode
