Bolligar Third in Decathlon after First Day at Pac-12 T&F Championships

EUGENE -- Washington State combined events specialist Michael Bolligar is in third place after the first day of the men's decathlon at the 27th Annual Women's and 82nd Annual Men's Pac-12 Conference Track and Field Championships Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

Bolligar, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., moved into third place after the fourth of the five first-day events and maintained the place with 3,737 points after the fifth event. WSU's Sean Harris, a junior from Kent, Wash., is in 11th place with a first-day total of 3,466 points. The decathlon competition is led by Oregon redshirt freshman Dakota Keys with 3,920 points.

Bolligar opened the decathlon competition by running the 100m dash in 11.30 seconds, long jumped a wind-aided 21-feet, 11 3/4 inches (6.70m), threw the shot put a season-best 37-3 1/4 (11.36m), high jumped a season-best 6-8 (2.03m), and ran the 400m dash in a season-best time of 50.31.

Harris ran the 100m dash in a time of 11.50w, long jumped 20-10 1/2 (6.36m), tossed the shot put 39-10 (12.14m), cleared a PR height in the high jump of 6-6 3/4 (2.00m) in the high jump, and ran the 400m in a time of 54.26.

In the women's heptathlon, Shaquana Logan, a junior from Tacoma, scored a first-day total of 2847 points for 12th. Logan ran the 100m hurdles in a time of 14.00 seconds, high jumped 4-feet, 8 3/4 inches (1.44m), threw a PR in the shot put of 32-2 3/4 (9.82m), and ran the 200m dash in a time of 24.90. Oregon senior Brianne Theisen leads the heptathlon with 3758 points.

"I'm happy with the outcome of where we are, for the most part," Cougar Head Coach Rick Sloan said. "If Michael and Sean come out and perform with solid marks Sunday, I think they can both score. Shaquana can look forward to the long jump where she performs at a high level."
