Cougars Place Well at Mt. SAC Last Day

WALNUT, Calif. -- Washington State University track and field competitors achieved only three improved performances during the last day of the Mt. SAC Relays at Walnut, Calif.

Anthony Buchanan finished tied for fifth in the men's 100m dash Invitational race with a season-best time of 10.46 seconds. Buchanan, a junior from Spokane, Wash., was the sole collegiate competitor in the race. Former Cougar All-American and Buchanan training partner, Anson Henry, finished fourth with a time of 10.33, running for Nike. Buchanan scratched out of 200m race and the Cougar men's 4x100m team did not finish their race.

In the men's 100m dash Olympic Development race, WSU senior Bennie Chatman finished second with a time of 10.40. Cougar freshman James McSwain finished eighth in the 100m dash University/Open division race with a season-best time of 10.79.

Ellannee Richardson was third and Tamara Gulley fifth in the women's 100m hurdles University/Open race. Richardson ran a time of 13.73 while Gulley improved her season-best mark to an NCAA RQ of 13.85.

Richardson and Gulley were joined by Tiffany Giles, winner of Friday's 400m race, and Monique Jessie to place second in the women's 4x100m relay in a time of 45.57.

Eric Dudley finished fifth in the men's 400m hurdles University/Open division with a time of 50.95.

Whitney Evans finished fourth in the women's Invitational high jump with a clearance of 5-feet, 10 3/4 inches (1.80m). Kurtiss Dilley leaped 6-9 1/2 (2.07m) for fifth place in the men's University/Open high jump.
