MOSCOW, Idaho -- Washington State's track and field competitors posted nine personal-bests and four season-best marks but no Cougar reached an NCAA qualifying standard at Saturday's Last Chance Meet at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho.

James McSwain (junior, Las Vegas) was looking to lower his 60m dash time to NCAA standards but won the race in a non-qualifying time of 6.79 seconds. Justin Chambers (freshman, Albany, Ore.) was another Cougar winner, taking the 800m race in a PR time of 1-minute, 54.03 seconds.

In the men's 200m dash, Eric Nygard (junior, Wenatchee, Wash.) ran a season-best 22.11 for second place while Jarrell Nelson (sophomore, Bremerton, Wash.) was third in a season-best time of 22.21 and Jon Manthey (senior, Federal Way, Wash.) reached a PR with his 23.34 for eighth place.

Ryan Thomas (junior, Olympia, Wash.) took second in the high jump with a height of 6-feet, 8 3/4 inches (2.05m) which equals his PR. Ben Hampton (junior, Kennewick, Wash.) won the triple jump with a season-best leap of 47-9 (14.55m).

Among the WSU women, Nicole McClendon (redshirt freshman, Granada Hills, Calif.) won the 400m dash with a PR time of 57.91 seconds and Kameko Wilson (sophomore, Spanaway, Wash.) was second with a season-best 58.65. Kelly Ramirez (sophomore, Duvall, Wash.) won the mile with a PR time of 5-minutes, 18.50 seconds.

Natalie Smith (sophomore, Bellingham) finished second in the 3000m race with a PR time of 10:38.66 with Grace Coulter (redshirt freshman, Bellingham) in third place in a PR time of 11:07.59. Robin Mikesh won the high jump clearing the bar at 1.71m/5-7 1/4 while McKinnon Hanson (freshman, LaPush, Wash.) reached a PR in the high jump with her second place finish at 1.66m/5-5 1/4.

 

 

The NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships are next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cougars will open their outdoor season at the Willie Williams Invitational Meet, March 18-19, at Tucson.
