Cougars Compete at Last Chance Indoor Qualifying Track Meets

NOTRE DAME/SEATTLE - The Washington State men's distance medley relay team finished 22nd at the Notre Dame Alex Wilson Invitational Friday. The Cougar men's DMR squad of Todd Wakefield (junior, Kearns, Australia), Jacob Sealby (junior, Wenatchee), Jesse Jorgensen (redshirt sophomore, Puyallup, Wash.) and Drew Jordan (junior, Medford, Ore.) ran a time of 9 minutes 40.20 seconds. The unofficial split times were 2:57 for Wakefield in the 1200m, 47.7 for Sealby in the 400m, 1:48.8 for Jorgensen in the 800m, and 4:05 for Jordan in the 1600m. In Seattle at the UW Final Qualifier, Justin Englund (senior, Federal Way, Wash.) ran a lifetime-best 5000m time of 14:20.14 for fifth place. Lee George (sophomore, Ferndale, Wash.) ran a mile time of 4:07.34 for seventh place. In the field events, Stephan Scott-Ellis (senior, Tacoma) won the competition but was not able to improve his current triple jump season-best mark which was 14th-best nationally and Friday night leaped 50-feet 8 3/4 inches (15.46m). Trevor Rogers (senior, Richmond, Calif.) long jumped 23-4 (7.11m) achieved on his sixth and only legal jump of the competition. Austin Sodorff (freshman, Woodinville, Wash.) pole vaulted a PR height of 15-10 (4.83m) for sixth place.
The NCAA DI Indoor Championships are March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.
