Cougars Run to PRs Friday Night at Husky Classic

SEATTLE -- Several Washington State University track and field competitors ran to lifetime-best times in the limited events contested Friday night at the Husky Classic Indoor track and field meet at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.
Cindy Robinson (junior, Norwalk, Calif.) ran the second-fastest time of the 31 competitors in the women's 200m, a time of 24.74. Cougars Morgan Clem and Holly DeHart ran personal-best times of 25.15 for Clem for eighth, and 25.58 for DeHart (17th).
In the men's 200m dash, Brett Blanshan (junior, Selah, Wash.) led four Cougars to top 15 places. Blanshan ran a time of 21.97 for fifth-place with Dana Wells (junior, Tieton, Wash.) seventh in a PR time of 22.04, Richard Wilhite (sophomore, New Hope, Minn.) ninth in a PR time of 22.04, and Rashaun Johnson (sophomore, West Seattle) 12th in a time of 22.23.
Friday night at the University of Arkansas Tyson Invitational meet in Fayetteville, Stephan Scott-Ellis (junior, Tacoma) competed in the men's long jump and finished third with a leap of 23-10 1/4 (7.27m), his only measured attempt of the first round, sandwiched around two fouls. He passed on his final three attempts in the final. Saturday at the Tyson Invite, Scott-Ellis will compete in the triple jump and WSU teammate Shawn Swartz will high jump.
The Husky Classic continues Saturday morning in Seattle.
