FRESHMAN (2002-03): Indoor - Season-best triple jump of 14.44m/47-4 1/2 came at Cougar Indoor (2/1/03, Pullman)...finished 16th in triple jump (13.94m/45-09)at Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships (2/22/03, Nampa)...Outdoor - Top leap of season was 14.56m/47-9 1/4 at McDonald's Outdoor (5/10/03, Moscow)...finished 13th in triple jump (14.04m/46-0 3/4) at Pac-10 Championships (5/18/03, Los Angeles).

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER. Earned three varsity track letters at Southridge High for coach Ted Homme...also lettered twice on basketball team for coach Ried Prepperman...senior year state 4A boy's triple jump champion with a personal-best leap of 48-0...finished seventh in the high jump clearing the bar at 6-2 but PR is 6-4...Big Nine Conference honorable mention...as junior second in triple jump at state.

Born Benjamin Carl Hampton 12/1/83 at Homburg, Germany...father Anthony works at Hanford Nuclear Reservation...mother Esther is a deli worker...brothers Shane (1/18/86) and Dominic (7/7/90)...cousin Karissa Hampton played soccer at UCLA and is a pro player on the San Diego Spirit...enjoys basketball, bowling, and entertaining by performing magic tricks and beat-box rapping...was the "Mike Man" leading the student body in cheers at WSU home football games in 2002...majoring in general humanities.
