Earned eight letters at Reno High, four each in cross country and track for coach Bruce Susong…captain of cross country team as senior, of track team as junior and senior…named 2002 Nevada Male Distance Runner of the Year…member of all-state first team as freshman and again as a senior…finished seventh in state 800m and 1600m as senior…also finished third in state 4x800 relay and fourth in 4x400 relay same year…team finished second in state as senior…state champion in 1600m, second in 800m as junior…third in state in 1600m and 3200m, and member of second place 4x800 relay as sophomore…competed for Silver State Striders Junior Team in 2001-02…placed seventh at Nationals in steeplechase in 2001…qualified for 2002 National Junior Olympics in steeplechase but did not compete.
