2012 USA Collegiate Dance Champions

The Washington State University Crimson Girls Dance Team recently won the 2012 USA Collegiate Hip Hop Dance Competition held in Anaheim, Calif.

WSU finished ahead of the University of Missouri Golden Girls, San Diego State University, University of Oregon Dance Team and the Idaho State University Bengal Dancers.

The Cougars have placed second in the Hip Hop division at the USA Nationals three times since 2003 and placed eighth in the UDA Nationals in 2009.

Maggie Kazemba, a Spokane native, is in her second season as Head Coach of the Washington State University Crimson Girl Dance Team. Maggie is also in her sixth season as the Spokane Shock Dance Team Director. After her first season as Dance Team Director, the Spokane Shock Dance Team was selected as the best Dance Team in the af2.

Maggie is the current choreographer of the West Valley High School Dance Team, a team that has been named the top in the state for the past eight years, and has been choreographing and instructing dance for over a decade in Eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana. In 2010, Maggie opened her own dance studio in the Spokane Valley, Spokane Elite Dance Studio, instructing dancers of all ages in jazz, hip hop, ballet, tap and cheer. A Washington State University Honors College graduate (December 2009, with a Masters in Architecture), Maggie was the Captain of the WSU Crimson Girl Dance Team winning three national titles with her team. In 2008, Maggie was named Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week after performing at the NCAA Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally, Maggie has over 16 years of professional training in ballet, jazz and hip hop. Maggie was a dance instructor for Universal Dance Association.

Maggie currently lives in Spokane with her husband Brian and their son.
