Hello Cougar Fans and welcome to the A.D. Forum. Washington State University Director of Athletics Jim Sterk will post periodic entries on this page about topics regarding WSU Athletics.
Dec. 18, 2009
Happy Holidays! I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and looking forward to gatherings with your friends and family.
With our second series of Town Halls completed, I want to take this opportunity to give you an update on Phase III of the Martin Stadium Renovation.
Just as our first series of Town Halls, which took place in November, we received a great deal of interest in premium seating as well as many commitments for these seats during the Dec. 7-10 Town Hall series across the state.
The commitment level for premium seating has steadily increased since we began the public stage of Phase III, Sept. 22, and I want to thank all of those who have made a commitment to the project.
In order to encourage early purchases and provide incentive to those who commit early, we set a Dec. 18 deadline for premium seating commitments, but I want to emphasize that our staff is continuing to work on premium seating sales. This deadline date does not mark an end in the process but rather one more step in making Phase III reality.
While premium seating sales will continue until the seating capacity is completely sold out, those who made a commitment to premium seating by Dec. 18 will receive priority in allocation of their seats, based on the project criteria (philanthropic gift to the project, length of commitment to their seat purchase, and TPS rank) in front of those who make a commitment after the Dec. 18 date.
All those who make purchases after Dec. 18 will have their seats allocated by those same criteria, but only within the pool of customers who made their deposit after the deadline, and after those who made commitments prior to Dec. 18.
Additionally, I want to stress that a decision on the start date for construction will not be made until early next year. We will not only take into account premium seating sales and commitments to date, but also donations and pledges made to the project in determining when we will begin construction.
At the time I post this message, we have nearly sold out of the suites and we are overcommitted for loge seating. We are very pleased and grateful for the high-level of interest thus far to the project and commitments made to suite and loge seating. We are still entertaining interest for suite and loge seating, as a philanthropic commitment to the project of $500,000 for a suite and $100,000 for a loge box will guarantee those seats; however, club seats are still available and it is vital that we sell these seats as well. A deposit of $300 will reserve a seat in the club area.
Please know that your purchase of premium seating supports Cougar Athletics and WSU. The additional operating funds will enhance the competitiveness of Cougar football and all WSU athletics programs. All WSU student-athletes and the entire University will benefit.
Furthermore, if you choose not to purchase a premium seat, you can still be a part of the team by making a donation to the project, becoming a season ticket holder if you have not previously been one, or renewing your season tickets. Your financial support, in any of the aforementioned categories, will help us achieve our goals
For more information on premium seating and to make a commitment, please contact Assistant Athletics Director for Annual Gifts and Tickets Dan Meyer at 509-335-0236, meyerd@wsu.edu, or go to the stadium renovation website at www.martinstadium.org
I wish to express my gratitude to all of those who have supported the Martin Stadium Renovation project. It is because of your support that Phase III will be Team Built.
I also wish you a wonderful holiday season and a terrific 2010.
Go Cougs!
Jim Sterk
