PULLMAN, Wash. - With the new year come new opportunities as sophomore Morgan Weaver and redshirt-junior Ella Dederick both received invites to the first U-23 Women's National Team camp in Carson, Calif. The opening camp of the new calendar year is scheduled for Jan. 4-11 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center. The two Coug standouts join 21 other college players and three NWSL players at the camp.

For Weaver, the call to camp is her second of the year after being invited to the final training camp of 2017 in Orlando. Weaver finished the season with a team-best 17 points and seven goals to lead the Cougs' attack. For her career, she has scored 15 goals including seven game-winners while tallying 33 points. Her 15 goals sits just outside of the Cougs' all-time top-10 after just two seasons.

Making her first trip to the U-23 WNT camp, Dederick will be one of four keepers in camp to start 2018. Dederick turned heads in the NCAA tournament while leading the Cougs into the championship's third round. The redshirt-junior shutout No. 8 UCF in the opening round behind six saves and a slew of other huge plays. She would send the Cougs to the third round for the first time in program history with a pair of shootout saves after earning a 2-2 draw in regulation against No. 20 Tennessee in the second round. For the year, Dederick earned Third Team All-Pac-12 honors after finishing the season with 11 shutouts second-most in WSU history, second-best in the conference and ranked 9th in all of Division I.
