Adomaviciute Advances to ’A’ Final at World Rowing Championships

The Lithuanian women's double sculls crew placed second in its semifinal heat Friday.

SARASOTA-BRADENTON, Fla. – Former Washington State rower, Ieva Adomaviciute finished second in her semifinal race as part of Lithuania's women's double sculls, Friday, to advance to the 'A' Final at the 2017 World Rowing Championships.

A native of Kaunas, Lithuania, Adomaviciute helped lead the Lithuanian women's double sculls boat to second place in the first heat of the A/B semifinals against the United States, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden, as the top three move on to the 'A' Final and the rest to the 'B' Final. Joined by Milda Valciukaite, the Lithuanian duo notched a time 6.57.86, just over two second behind first-place United States at 6:55.29. France placed third to move on to the 'A' Final, along with the top three from heat 2; New Zealand, Australia and China. The 'A' Final will take place Sunday, Oct. 1 at 7:27 a.m. PT. 

Adomaviciute's former teammate, Nicole Hare is also participating in the World Rowing Championships, along with former WSU rower Lisa Roman for their native, Canada. Both members of the 2016 Canadian Olympic team, Hare and Roman are competing in both the women's four and women's eight. The Canadian women's eight crew will compete in the 'A' final, Sunday, Oct. 1 at 8:42 a.m. PT, while their four crew will race in the 'B' Final, Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6:25 a.m. PT.
