WHY & HOW...
WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny said, "I think it was tough to get going this morning for whatever reason but we were able to come together and make some adjustments just mentally and get better halfway through the second set. And then we saw some really good things from the rest of the match. I definitely wish we were more consistent from the beginning and late in the match we hit a little bit better. I thought
Taylor Mims really carried us that first set and got us going and then we were able to mix some other people in from the second set on. We would have liked to see our blocking numbers a little bit better but we'll take the win.
Â
"Their tempo was definitely nowhere near what we're used to seeing in practice: some really, really high balls and then all of a sudden, a quick ball out of nowhere. I think we need to get better with our eye work and adjusting to that tempo a little bit earlier.
Â
"We need to be more consistent and we're going to need to pass better because I do really like our middle numbers as well with Jocelyn and Ella so we need to get them the ball a bit more.
Â
On taking on Missouri State later today Greeny said, "We were able to watch them last night against Chattanooga and they are a very, very good team. They play great defense. They are your typical mid-major team being a little undersized but their all-around skills are fantastic. They have a phenomenal outside hitter and a middle blocker that does some great things. We definitely have to step up our game tonight."
