Cougs Draw South Florida As The Gulf Coast Showcase Brackets Finalize

The Thanksgiving tournament features some of the best teams in the country.
ESTERO, Fla. - Hitting the road for Thanksgiving, the Washington State women's basketball team will head to Florida to take part in the Gulf Coast Showcase from Nov. 24-26. The Cougs will be part of a stacked field headlined by the defending national champion Gamecocks from South Carolina. The annual tournament, hosted by BD Global Sports LLC, takes place at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla.
An eight team bracketed tournament, WSU will join South Carolina, Rutgers, St. John's, Western Michigan, South Florida, Notre Dame, and East Tennessee State. Broken into two brackets, the Cougs will look to push their way through South Florida, Notre Dame, and East Tennessee State in the bottom bracket for a chance to play in the championship game Sunday, Nov. 26. WSU opens the tournament Friday, Nov. 24 against South Florida in the third game of the tournament slated for 2 p.m. PST.
The Cougs open the 2017 season Wednesday, Nov. 1 at home against The Masters University in exhibition play. The regular season begins nine days later on Nov. 10, when WSU heads to UC Davis in a rematch of their WNIT third-round contest against the Aggies last season. The Cougs took home a 71-62 victory over the Aggies en route to a final four appearance in the postseason tournament.
