SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Washington State University women's rowing redshirt senior
Ieva Adomaviciute has been named to the Pac-12 All-Conference team, commissioner Larry Scott announced Wednesday.
Adomaviciute (Kaunas, Lithuania) finished her fourth and final season with the Cougars this year, having rowed with the varsity eight crew the majority of her career. She redshirted last season as she took a year off to train with the Lithuanian national team. All four years that Adomaviciute has been on the team, the Cougars have advanced to the NCAA Rowing Championships.
As a freshman in 2013, Adomaviciute was instrumental in getting WSU back to the NCAA Championships after a one-year drought, as she helped lead the varsity eight and the team to 14th-place finishes. The following season Adomaviciute rowed with the varsity four, finishing 13th, while the team placed 14th at NCAAs. The following season, 2015, the then-junior guided WSU to its second-best team finish in school history as the Cougars placed eighth and Adomaviciute's varsity eight crew finished ninth. As a redshirt senior in 2017, Adomaviciute led the varsity eight crew to a 13th-place finish at the NCAA Championships as WSU placed 14th as a team in May.
A native of Kaunas, Lithuania, Adomaviciute becomes the 38th Cougar to earn all-conference accolades dating back to 1988. At least one WSU rower has been named to the all-conference team each of the last 22 seasons. This is the first all-conference honor for Adomaviciute, who was named the Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year in 2013. She was also named CRCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-America that season and earlier this week was named 2017 CRCA First Team All-Region.
Members of the All-Conference rowing teams are based upon each institution's finish in the varsity eight race at the Pac-12 Championships, which were held May 14 on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. The conference champion provides four members of the All-Conference team, the Pac-12 second-place crew provides three members and the third-place finisher provides two. All other participating conference crews receive one selection each.
