"We had a great overall team performance especially on the men's side in which we finished only 4.5 points out of fourth," WSU Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Wayne Phipps said. "
CJ Allen and
Ja'Maun Charles led the way on the final day with huge performances in their individual events and in both relays.
Matthew Swanson made his first Pac-12 final and made the most of it with a fifth place finish and a season's best.
Kiana Davis led the women today with great performances in both the high jump and triple jump. Her performances were even more impressive as there was a last minute schedule change which resulted in both of her events being contested at the exact same time. She had to run back and forth between the events and still jumped a personal best in the triple jump and scored in both events.
Lateah Holmes also had an awesome high jump competition to finish third. This is step one in our championship part of our season and we should have a very large and definitely a very strong contingent heading to the first round of NCAAs."
The qualified Cougars will compete next in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, May 25-27, in Austin, Texas.
