"I was extremely proud of the way our teams competed today. It would have been great to get the win, especially with it being so close on the men's side, but absolutely no fault of the effort put forth today; our athletes were awesome," WSU Director of Cross Country/Track & Field
Wayne Phipps said. "We had a number of outstanding performances in less than ideal conditions. We swept a number of events and had a number of people who really rose to the occasion. Big final stretch finishes by
Paul Ryan,
Sam Levora, Chris Grant and
Ray Littles put us in a great position to win.
Alissa Brooks-Johnson and
Kiana Davis were everywhere for us today; and
Atina Kamasi had a huge throw in the javelin.
Ja'Maun Charles had an impressive double win, as well as running awesome legs in both the 4x1 and 4x4. We are excited to compete at home next weekend and then finalize our preparation for the championship portion of our season."
