SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Washington State men's golf team is in seventh place after two rounds of play, Saturday, at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate.
WSU shot 6-over through two to bring its two-round total to 582. Host-school Michigan leads the tournament at 14-under par (562), followed by Northwestern and Kansas which are both tied for second (-8, 568). The Cougars lead Pac-12 competitor Utah (+17, 593) by 11 strokes.
After shooting under par in each round, junior Zach Anderson leads the team and is tied for 11th (-2, 142). Anderson carded nine birdies on the day and trails leader Reed Hrynewich of Michigan by eight strokes.Â
Junior Derek Bayley moved 18 spots up the leaderboard and is tied for 27th. Bayley shot 1-under par in the second round and finished the day with a score of 146 (+2). Senior Nick Mandell trails Bayley by just one stroke and is tied for 30th (+3, 147).
Highlighted by an eagle on the back nine of the second round, sophomore AJ Armstrong is tied for 35th with a two-round total of 148 (+4). Junior Brian Mogg is in 52nd place after two rounds of play (+9, 153).Â
