PEORIA, Ariz.— After carding its second-lowest round score in school history at 5-under par, the Washington State women's golf team tied for ninth place with Notre Dame, Monday, at the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
WSU moved four spots up the leaderboard with a third-round total of 283, its lowest single-round score of the tournament. The Cougars also tied two other teams for the lowest team-round score of the day, leading them to finish with a total score of 884 (+20).
Tournament-champion Kansas State was the only team to finish under par and ended play with a score of 861 (-3). No. 26 Ohio State and Kansas tied for second place after shooting 1-over through three rounds (865).
Competing as an individual, junior
Bree Wanderscheid shot 2-under in the final round, her lowest single-round score of the tournament, and tied for 21st (218). Wanderscheid carded five birdies on the day and finished nine strokes behind tournament-winner Audrey Judd of Nebraska.
Leading the team was freshman
Marie Lund-Hansen, who recorded her second top-25 finish of the season. Lund-Hansen shot 3-over through three rounds and tied for 23rd (219). Junior
Alivia Brown improved her second-round score by eight strokes, and finished the tournament tied for 27th (+4, 220).
Senior
Cherokee Kim shot even par on the day, her lowest round of the tournament, and tied for 37th (+6, 222). Sophomore
Madison Odiorne finished one stroke behind Kim and took 43rd place with a score of 223 (+7). Freshman
Elodie Bridenne finished in 75th place (+26, 242).
The Cougars return to the green March 14-15, for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
