THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Led by senior Nick Mandell, the Washington State men's golf team is in third place (-5, 571) after nearly two rounds of play at the Southwestern Invitational, Monday, at the North Ranch Country Club.
WSU was one of two teams to complete the second round before the remainder was postponed due to darkness.
Washington State shot 5-under on the day and sits 16 strokes back of host-school Pepperdine, which currently leads the 14-team field. No. 5 USC leads WSU by one stroke and is in second place.
Three Cougars are in the top-25, with senior Nick Mandell leading the way tied for 10th with eight birdies on the day. Mandell shot 4-under in the first round to record a two-round score of 142 (-2).
Junior Derek Bayley is tied for 14th at 1-under par (143), one stroke in front of junior classmate Zach Anderson, who is tied for 17th (E, 144).
Highlighted by an eagle on the back nine in the second round, junior Brian Mogg is tied for 31st with a two-round score of 148 (+4). Sophomore AJ Armstrong shot 6-over on the day and is tied for 38th place (+5, 149).
