In addition to being a great student, Gabby has a reputation among New Zealand coaches as being gritty and tough. That coupled with her fantastic attitude and personality, her strong work ethic, and her being a great teammate to those around her, we are thrilled she will be joining us and contributing to our program."Â
Meg Montgomery (Lantzville, British Columbia) was named a finalist for the female athlete of the year at the Nanaimo Sports Award during her sophomore year in school. She has captured first place finishes at the Junior Indoor Canadian Championships, as well as High School Nationals and the BC Summer Games, amongst several other top-three finishes. This past fall she won the Head of the Gorge in the open 2X in Victoria, B.C
Coach LaRiviere on Montgomery:Â
"From the first time I met Meg I knew that she had what it takes to be a successful Collegiate rower. Â She loves rowing and loves to train. Â Her eagerness to improve and willingness to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals is admirable. Â Meg also excels in the classroom and will be an excellent addition to the Honor's college."
Washington State will open its spring season, March 24-25 at the San Diego Crew Classic.
