NCAA WEST REGION CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS NOV. 10
The Washington State men's and women's cross country teams will compete at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships in Seattle, Wash., Fri., Nov. 10, at the Jefferson Golf Course...women's 6,000m race will begin at 10:30 a.m...men's 10,000m race will begin at 11:30 a.m...Jefferson Park Golf Course consists of multiple 2,000m loops on flat fairways crossing some cart paths...the course was the site of the 2010 Pac-10 Championships and the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2012 and 2015...schools may enter seven runners per gender but only the top five count in team scoring (by place)...results will be posted at wsucougars.com when available.
2016 WEST REGION CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS:
At the 2016 NCAA West Region Championships in Sacramento, Calif., at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course, the Washington State men's team finished fifth and the women's team placed 18th...leading the Cougars men,
Michael Williams finished 17th and leading the women,
Devon Bortfeld finished 38th.
COUGARS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Washington State University men's cross country team moved down in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rankings, published Oct. 30, and the West Region Rankings, published Oct. 29, after a sixth place finish at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships in Springfield, Ore., Fri., Oct. 27...WSU men's team is ranked No. 27 in the USTFCCCA National Week 6 Poll, moving down from No. 20 in the previous week's rankings...other nationally-ranked Pac-12 teams include No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Colorado, No. 10 UCLA, No. 13 Oregon, and No. 20 Washington...in the West Region rankings, the Cougar men moved down from No. 5 in Week 5, published Oct. 16, to No. 7...the WSU women's team moved up in the West Region Rankings, after a 10th place finish at the Pac-12 Championships, from being unranked to No. 12...complete national and regional rankings are on pages 2 and 3 of this release.
