PULLMAN, Wash. - With the close of the early signing period, Head Men's Golf Coach Dustin White announced the signing of Daisuke Nakano to a National Letter of Intent. Nakano, a native of Tokyo, Japan, will join the Cougars in the fall of 2018.

"We are excited for Daisuke to get here and add another level of competitiveness and experience to the program," said White. "He has competed in events all over the world and will be able to apply that knowledge to college golf and hit the ground running. He has a terrific skillset and the ability to play at a very high level. On top of that, his strong work ethic and easy going personality fit well with the guys and will make for a smooth transition. Plus, he can teach us a little Japanese too."

Honing his craft around the world as a top junior golfer, Nakano has settled in Florida where he plays on the South Florida PGA Junior Tour. The 2016 Championship Tour Player of the Year, Nakano took home five top-5 finishes in tour play including winning the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Jr Championship. He has continued his excellent play in 2017 by dominating the Junior Tour. For the second-straight year, Nakano has produced five top-5 finishes while winning the Junior Tour Championship Event #9 in Miami. With his play on the tour once again, Nakano sits atop the player of the year standings in 2017. In addition to his play on the tours, Nakano qualified for the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championships at Pinehurst while also earning a spot in the IMG Academy Junior World Championship in San Diego.

Prior to moving to competing in Florida, Nakano made a name for himself early as the New Zealand Junior Player of the Year in 2014.

Nakano will graduate from Morning Side Academy in the spring of 2018.
