WSU VOLLEYBALL HOME FOR COUGAR CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT
The Washington State University volleyball team, 5-1 on the season and receiving votes in the Sept. 5 AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll, plays at home for the first time this season, hosting the four-team Cougar Challenge tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10 in Bohler Gym...Cougs meet Maryland Eastern Shore (7-2) Friday at Noon, George Washington University (3-3) Friday at 7:30 p.m., and Idaho (3-3) Saturday at 1 p.m...complete schedule below...all WSU matches during this tourney will be webcast free at wsucougars.com.

WSU opened the season winning the Purdue Mortar Board Tournament and went undefeated at the LBSU Mizuno Invitational...WSU received votes on two or more ballots in the Sept. 5, 2016 AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll for 11 points which is the 36th-best point total...Cougars had also received votes in these past AVCA polls: Aug. 29, 2016, Sept. 21, 2015, and Oct. 12, 2015...WSU will play 10 teams this season that are ranked or have received votes in the 2016 AVCA Preseason Top 25...in the Sept. 5 PrepVolleyball.com College Top 50 rankings, WSU moved up for the third consecutive week, ranked No. 23...other Pac-12 schools in this week's PreVolleyball.com Top 50 are: 5.
