ERIE, Colo. -- The Washington State men's golf team is tied for sixth (-2, 574) with Boise State and Colorado (B) through two rounds at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational, Monday, at the Colorado National Golf Club.
WSU moved up four spots on the leaderboard, shooting 3-under par in the second round, and bringing their two-round total to 574 (-2). Pac-12 competitors Colorado (-18, 558) and Utah (-13, 563) lead the tournament in first and second, respectively. Houston Baptist sits in third (564) at 12-under par.
Junior Derek Bayley leads the Cougars shooting 4-under par (140) and is tied for 15th through two rounds. Bayley trails leader Morton Toft Hansen of Colorado by four strokes (-8, 136).
Senior Nick Mandell is tied for 23rd with five other golfers. Mandell shot 2-under par with a two-round score of 142. Mandell carded nine birdies throughout the day.
Sophomore AJ Armstrong shot even par (144) and finished the day tied for 37th, shooting three birdies on the back nine in the second round. Junior Zach Anderson is tied for 70th place at 4-over par (148). Freshman Nicklaus Chiam is in 102nd place with a two-round score of 158.
The final round begins Tuesday with a staggered shotgun format. The top four teams will play in five tee times, with No.1 beginning at 6:55 a.m. PT. The rest have a shotgun start at 7:15 a.m. PT.
