Soccer Receiving Votes in NSCAA Preseason Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washington State women's soccer team is receiving votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division I women's soccer preseason rankings, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Cougars, who return to the field after matching the program record with 14 wins in 2015, are earning 14 points in the poll. WSU concluded the 2015 season receiving eight votes in the NSCAA final postseason ranking, after earning a fifth consecutive NCAA Championship berth.

Eight of Washington State's 2016 opponents are ranked in the top 25 or receiving votes in the poll. Pac-12 foes Stanford (No. 5), USC (No. 11), California (No. 18), and Arizona (No. 20) all rank in the top 25. The Cougars begin their season with a pair of top-25 matchups against No. 16 BYU and No. 21 Santa Clara. In addition to WSU, UCLA and Washington are also receiving votes.

The 2016 Cougar soccer team opens its season Friday, Aug. 19 against No. 16 BYU at 7 p.m. at Lower Soccer Field.
