Each day a Cougar men's basketball student-athlete will write about his experience in Italy.

Charles Callison & Derrien King: Aug. 11, 2016

Today we visited an Army base in Vicenza, Italy.  We walked around watching different stations of the base and met people from all over the world. They had a great lounge area where they can relax and have great food and play pool, ping pong and many other games. They also showed us around the cafeteria and we got too feed the army staff while others of us helped wash dishes. It was a great experience helping those that protect us and give us freedom. Last but not least they showed us their army cars, tanks but what was very interesting was the gun range.
The game we played was a fun experience and a very great atmosphere, they were good competitors and they had good sportsman like conduct. The fans were great and they were very excited to see us play and really wanted our autographs and we taken a lot of pictures with the fans. All in all in was a time to remember.

Go Cougs,
Charles Callison

We visited an army base in Vicenza Italy. We got a tour of the army base and got to meet and talk with the troops. We got to visit where they spend there down time to play pool, and watch movies and eat. We also visited where they ate most of their meals and we served them lunch then went on to eat with them and spend time talking with them. After that they took us to their repair station where they repaired the army vehicles. After that we went to the firing range to see where they practiced their shooting.
Later that day we had a game and some of the troops came out to support. The game was fun and competitive and it was cool having American support over here in Italy it was a great time.

Thanks for all the support,
DK (Derrien King)
