VICENZA, Italy – After leading the majority of the game, the Washington State men's basketball team saw its lead disappear late in the fourth quarter as it fell 67-58 to Vicenze Select, Thursday, Aug. 11 at Palazzetto del Sport.

Josh Hawkinson recorded his second-straight double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds as he was named the Washington State player of the game. The Cougars drop to 2-1 on its five-game tour of Italy. Senior

Derrien King each added 10 points while Callison had a team-high 3 steals and King added 8 rebounds.
Andrea Galiazzo led Vicenze Select with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals, as he was named the team's MVP. Alessandro Corno added 11 points, while Patrizio Sisiue led the team with 8 boards.
Both teams struggled from the field as the Cougars shot .323 (20-62), while Vicenze shot .300 (21-for-70) from the field.
After trailing 5-1 early, WSU used a 9-0 run to lead 10-5 midway through the first quarter. The Cougars maintained a steady lead throughout the rest of the half to enter halftime with a 31-23 advantage.
The Washington State lead was cut to 6 at the end of the third quarter, 47-42. Vicenze continued to chip at the Cougar lead finally tying the game at 58 with 2:32 to go. With the crowd and momentum on their side, Vicenze ended the game with a 9-0 run for the 9-point, 67-58 victory.
