Josh Hawkinson Named to Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team

Hawkinson reached the 1,000-point plateau Saturday against Montana with a career-high 29 points.

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Senior Josh Hawkinson was named to the five-person Paradise Jam All-Tournament Team, tournament officials announced late Monday night. 

Hawkinson averaged a double-double with 18.0 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. He had a career-night against Montana, Nov. 19, finishing with a career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds. In the process he reached the 1,000-point plateau, becoming the 35th Cougar to score 1,000 points in his career. 

Creighton's Marcus Foster was named tournament MVP after averaging 18.7 points per game, including 25 points in the championship game, an 86-77 victory over Ole Miss. The all-tournament team also included Creighton's Cole Huff, Ole Miss's Deandre Burnett, Loyola's Aundre Jackson and NC State's Dennis Smith, Jr.

The No. 12 Creighton Bluejays defeated the Ole Miss Rebels, 86-77, Monday in the championship game of the 2016 men's Paradise Jam basketball tournament at UVI Sports and Fitness Center. Creighton's Marcus Foster was named the tournament MVP after averaging 18.7 points per game, including a game-best 25 points in the championship game.
 
Huff averaged 15.0 points per game over the three-game tournament. Burnett broke the Paradise Jam tournament scoring record, dropping 41 points in the Rebels' opening game against Oral Roberts. Jackson and Smith Jr., each led their team in scoring with 17.3 ppg and 22.0 ppg, respectively.

The Cougars went 1-2 in the tournament with losses to Creighton and Loyola and a victory over Montana, to finish sixth. WSU returns home to host San José State, Sunday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. at Beasley Coliseum.
