2012 Cougar Legends Recap

The three pillars of the Washington State Athletic Department were on full display at the 2012 Cougar Legends Weekend presented by Sterling Bank.

More than 35 former players and coaches, and more than 160 donors to Washington State Athletics, converged on the Coeur d' Alene Resort and Golf Course to participate in the Second Annual Cougar Legends Weekend. The event was an opportunity to engage Cougar supporters with their heroes of the past, while also raising funds to support current and future student-athlete scholarships at WSU. From Drew Bledsoe to Klay Thompson to Mike Price to Bobo Brayton, the legends were the focal point of the weekend and they did not disappoint those in attendance.

The event began Friday evening with a dinner and live auction, in which legends were auctioned off as playing partners for Saturday's golf. Bledsoe, a member of last year's winning team, went to a foursome that bid a record $26,500 to play alongside the NFL All-Pro. Between supporting partnerships, entry fees and the Friday night event, more than $200,000 was raised for student-athlete scholarships. Special thanks needs to go to our presenting partner, Sterling Bank, along with Nike, Odom Corporation, the Coeur d'Alene Resort, the Tom Addis Auto Group and Northern Quest Resort and Casino for their partnerships with the event.

Saturday's golf was a hit with each team competing for the title of 2012 Cougar Legends Champion. At the end of the day, the team of Scott Taylor, Greg Beckel, Rob Marshall, Tom Price and legend Casey Kelley came out on top. The winning team walked away with airfare, three nights hotel and game tickets to the WSU-UNLV football game, Sept. 14 in Las Vegas. More importantly, everyone that played walked away with the stories that were shared on the golf course of being a part of the Cougar Family.
