Men’s Basketball

Feb. 26, 1977

Before a near sellout crowd of 12,008 at Beasley Coliseum on “Steve Puidokas” night, the Cougars defeated the Oregon State Beavers 74-62.

In a halftime ceremony, Puidokas became only the second student-athlete in WSU history to have his number retired (Mel Hein’s No. 7 is the other).

Puidokas, who finished the night with 16 points, departed WSU as the holder of five school records. Puidokas left the school as the all-time leader in points (1,894) and rebounds (992); he still holds WSU career marks for scoring average (18.6 points per game), field goals (734), and rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

March 2, 1995

Amy Saneholtz tied a school record for rebounds in a game with 22, leading WSU to a 74-66 win at Tempe.

Saneholtz pulled down a then school record 13 defensive boards and tied the offensive mark with nine.

The win over the Sun Devils was the first conference road win of the season for WSU, which improved its record to 15-10.
