Men's Basketball

Joe Wallace scored a team-high 34 points to lead the Cougars to an 81-73 upset victory over No. 17 UCLA at Friel Court.

Wallace shot 12-of-22 for the game including 8-of-13 in the first half. With WSU behind 23-21, Wallace sparked an 8-0 run in a 1:43 span to give the Cougars a 29-23 advantage. WSU extended its lead to 40-33 at the break.

The Cougars led by as much as 12 in the second half and withstood a late Bruins rally that saw UCLA get as close as 73-69 with 1:22 left.

Brian Quinnett scored 19 points while Dwayne Scholten added 16 for WSU.

Reggie Miller led UCLA with a game-high 38 points including seven 3-point field goals.

Women's Basketball

Despite being without the services of leading scorer Camille Thompson, who sprained her left thumb the night before the game, the Cougars outlasted Weber State 66-50 at Ogden, Utah.

Lori Lollis scored a career-high 17 points to lead WSU while Erika Wheeler scored 12 and Kelli Kronberger added 10. Angie Peterson grabbed 12 rebounds for WSU.
