Week of Sept. 9-Sept. 15

Volleyball

Sept. 12, 1986

In their first Pacific-10 Conference match in the history of both programs, the Cougars swept No. 8 USC (15-12, 15-10, 15-8) at Bohler Gym in Pullman.

Carla Reyes had 12 kills while Donna Finney (11 kills) and Cindy Baker (10 kills) also hit double-digits in that category.

The 1986 season marked the first year of Pac-10 play in volleyball.

Football
Sept. 12, 1992

Aaron Price converted his third field goal of the day with 35 seconds left as WSU overcame an 11-point Arizona lead to defeat the Wildcats 23-20 at Tucson.

Price, who had field goals of 21 and 51 yards in the first half, nailed a 47-yard kick to complete the WSU comeback.

The Cougar defense limited Arizona to 58 yards rushing; just 223 yards total offense, and eight first downs.

Overcoming two first-half interceptions, Drew Bledsoe finished the game completing 22 of 43 passes for 270 yards, and two touchdowns. Shaumbe Wright-Fair recorded his second straight 100-yard rushing day with 112 yards.

The Cougars improved to 2-0 en route to a 6-0 start in what would be a Copper Bowl championship season
