PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State Cougars fall season came to end late last month, highlighted by the women's soccer team reaching the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the past five seasons.
The soccer program compiled a 12-6-2 overall record while winning its final three regular-season games, including a 1-0 victory over Washington to secure its place in the 64-team NCAA field. Soccer had three members on the All-Pac-12 teams while 11 were named to the Pac-12 All-Academic teams.
Football ended its year with a stunning, come-from-behind 31-28 overtime victory against Washington. WSU erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter before winning on its first possession of overtime. The Cougars, who finished the year 3-9, placed 10 members of the All-Pac-12 teams while they had nine members on the Pac-12 all-Academic teams.
The volleyball squad finished the year with a 13-19 record, one more victory that the 2011 season. The Cougars placed five members on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams while Jaicee Harris was named to the all-Pac-12 honorable mention squad.
The cross country squads placed 10 members on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams and concluded their seasons when Todd Wakefield earned All-Region honors and advanced to the NCAA Championships.
Additionally, women's rowing, women's tennis and men's and women's golf posted strong results during the fall portion of their schedules.
